Abstract
One of the hadiths that Ibn Hajar explains in his book "Fath al-Bari" is the hadith "Close the doors except for the door of Abu Bakr." He narrates this hadith through several chains and believes that this historical event occurred towards the end of the Prophet's (PBUH) life. By mentioning this narration, he aims to highlight the virtues of Abu Bakr and demonstrate his suitability for the caliphate. However, since this narration contradicts the hadith "Close the doors except for the door of Ali," he proposes solutions to reconcile both narrations, which can be examined and critiqued. Among these solutions is the claim that the narration regarding Ali (PBUH) occurred after the migration and is authentic, while the narration regarding Abu Bakr took place towards the end of the Prophet's (PBUH) life and is metaphorical. By presenting this hadith, he attributes one of the unique historical facts related to Amir al-Mu'minin (PBUH) to Abu Bakr, which, upon examining the verses and narrations in this context, we find to be incorrect
