Abstract
The term "mutawassimin" is one of the Quranic words that, despite its singular use in the Holy Quran, has found frequency in various scientific fields. A significant number of narrations also attempt to clarify its meaning and exemplification, establishing a special place for it in hadith, theological, and mystical literature. Based on this foundation, the present study employs a descriptive-analytical method to first explore the linguistic meaning of this word in lexical sources and aims to elucidate the subject of its linguistic meaning. Then, the semantic components of this term in its Quranic application and usage are examined and evaluated. In the subsequent stage, identifying the exemplified instances of the mentioned components is considered, and in this context, narrations that have been issued regarding the interpretation of this term are taken into account and examined for their specific instances. Based on this, an interpretive analysis of the narrations is conducted to determine the true and serious intention of the Holy Quran behind this word. In the final stage, it is emphasized that "tawassum" indicates an exceptional characteristic for the Imams (AS), which has been transmitted from one infallible to another based on their position of wilayah. This knowledge represents a specific understanding of the fate and faith or disbelief of individuals.
