There are several hadiths signifying the instant acquiring of the knowledge of the past and the present affairs by any of the Infallible Imams, hence accepted as an axiom. Incompatibility of multiplicity of the Infallible Imams' knowledge with the contents of such hadiths on the one hand, and that such hadiths used to be thought to be not too many in number on the other hand have led to their justification. The present paper attempts to prove that such hadiths are not few in number, hence a plenty of such hadiths that prove their multiplicity have been discovered concerning the Infallible Imam's knowledge such that the basis and nature of his knowledge are regarded as his escalating knowledge. Other types of the Infallible Imam's knowledge prove his imamate. When apparently incompatible, they must be interpreted in the context and light of the multiplicity of his knowledge. Apparent incompatibilities of such hadiths can be solved by means of restricting their semantic and temporal scopes as well as regarding them as a different type of hadith(s), hence proofs in favor of multiplicity of the Infallible Imam's knowledge count as their additional proofs.

After the demise of the Prophet Muhammad, some political currents tried to change the public opinions in their own favor through making political projections. It was the time of their seeking more power, hence making role-models. In such a context, certain leanings and persons sought gaining more and more power, hence the rulers resorted to projections to stir people's feelings as well as dividing them in effect of weakening the status of the Infallible Imam in society. Based on a descriptive and analytical discourse-oriented approach, the present paper attempts to analyze the very culture-making contexts that reveal the strategies Imam Ali's opponents utilized; it also delineates Imam Ali's strategies vis-à-vis such projections. Studies indicate that Imam Ali's defensive and preventive strategies were among his most ways to withstand the projections of his opponents. From among his most widely-used strategies were his addresses and letters wherein he combined directions and disclosures simultaneously in the form of dialogues, speeches, and letters. In effect of these efforts and in the light of sincerity and truthfulness, he achieved confronting his opponents' projections, hence he achieved safeguarding the reality of Shi'ism and his own real character in history. Some of these policies bore fruit in either the short or long terms.

The Ghadir Khumm sermon of the Prophet Muhammad was certainly a highly significant speech that he delivered before a large crowd of Muslims in 10 AH/ 632. It contains important messages regarding the real character of Islam and its constituting elements, including imamate and vicegerency. Handed down in three wordings slightly at variance with one another, a content analysis study was conducted on each of the three versions so as to get to the essence of their messages. This was followed by categorical content analyses so that the geometrical structure of the content of each sermon is uncovered. Albeit some minor variations, they are in complete agreement with each other, hence mutually subject to being merged within each other. The resulting text proves the authenticity and validity of the three versions.

Prophethood is a Divine mission for guiding people such that it has two versions that are concerned with law-making and promulgation of the Islamic religion both of which ended. The Twelve4r Shiism holds that after prophethood, the Infallible Imam succeeds the Prophet through the Divine nomination, hence holds the leadership. Belief in the principle of imamate brings about the controversy of breaching the rule of the finality of prophethood. However, proving the distinctions between promulgation-oriented prophethood and imamate would solve this problem. Hence the query whether these two are one and the same in terms of their functions and mission. A piece of library research paper, the present work makes a comparative study of these two phenomena: promulgation-oriented prophethood is concerned with disseminating the essence of the bygone faiths, leading the maintaining the supremacy of the prophet and showing the new path. In addition to the above, the infallible imam is commissioned to implementing the Divine rules, establishing the religious state, and exerting the right influence in the people who are capable of receiving the Divine direction and guidance.

The present paper attempts to deal with studying the imamate-oriented views of the Iranian Salafist trend which is a revisionist current in the Shiite thought and its being identical with the main Twelver Shiite creed. The paper deals with a number of aspects of the problem, that is, definition of imamate, the major and minor qualifications of the Infallible Imam, and the process of making of imamate from their perspective. Having defined five key terms from the lexicon of the terminologies Twelver Shiism uses for and in the case of imamate, it shows the reasons for the opposition of the Salafist trend with these concepts. As for the main attributes of imamate, this paper deals with the rejection of the principle of the Divine selection and nomination, the knowledge and infallibility of the Infallible Imams, and their (i.e., Salafists') skepticism over the primacy of Imam Ali over the other three caliphs who were contemporary with him. As for the minor characteristics, responsibilities, and offices of the Infallible Imams, the trend in question has cast certain doubts, too. They do so to make use of the Quran and the human intellect as their supports. They finally come up with rejecting the Divine nomination and the absence of any explicit text on the succession of the Infallible Imams. Therefore, the present paper attempts to render a well-documented report of these constitutive elements in the array of the beliefs of their Salafist trend so as to picture their correspondence with as well as their opposition against the mainstream of the Twelver Shiite doctrines.

Abu Turab is a patronymic of Imam Ali. However, the Umayyads' animosity against him have historically blurred the contexts of its emergence, leading to two types of hadiths regarding the very patronymic in question, all attributed to the Prophet Muhammad. E. Kohlberg holds that the patronymic Abu Turab was a designation used for scolding Imam Ali; however, Shiites have fabricated hadiths to show its favorable uses. The present paper deals with this issue based on both Shiite and Sunni sources. The conclusions signify that Kohlberg barely did a thorough piece of research in Shiite and Sunni sources and quite unjustifiably holds in a gradual change of the connotations of the patronymic by Shiites.
